Hi, I’m Claudia Pérez Chew, and I’m the Elementary Director.
My name is Joyce Kaufmann and I am the English Coordinator for Primary. Mexico is the 4th country I have taught in and I am enjoying Pachuca very much. Previously, I taught in the United States, Kuwait and Oman. I am a graduate of Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. I am from Texas, but lived in California for a long time and that is where my 2 adult daughters live. My passions, beyond education, are cooking, gardening and reading mysteries and thrillers. I also like high risk sports such as skydiving and bungee jumping. Travel is another passion and I am proud to say my passport is almost full.

I like spending time with my family, and going to new places.
Hi, my name is Itzel Bailón Romero, and I’m the director’s assistant in elementary.
Hello, my name is Jessica Ortíz and I’m the 1st Grade English teacher. I was born in Nebraska, a state that is in the middle of the
United States. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I have been a teacher for
14 years. I taught for nine years in the US. Most of my experience there was in teaching first
and second grade. This is my sixth year teaching in Pachuca. I have only taught first and
second grade in Pachuca. I enjoy these two grade levels. First grade is a HUGE year of growth
– the students learn to read, learn to speak, and learn to become responsible students beginning
their jobs as students. Besides teaching these grades, I enjoy being here with my family. My
husband is Mexican, and is from this area. I have three children. My oldest daughter is 16 and
attends Prepa. My middle daughter is 13 and attends ASP. My youngest is my only son who is
eight this year. He also attends ASP. As for myself , I enjoy exercising, being with my family and
being outside on sunny days. I love that I can be outside all year long here in Pachuca.
Pachuca feels very close to the city I left in the US, so I feel at home away from home.
